Streetlights, People! Productions was founded in 2015 by Jen Coles and Nora Perone while students at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Tasked with creating a musical theatre piece in a non-traditional performance context, they wrote and produced The Fitness Problem, a vlog musical described by viewers as "hilarious," "incredibly original," and "right on the mark."
Originally a YouTube comedy venture, the company's production of Adam Gwon's Ordinary Days in 2016 saw a return to Jen and Nora's roots as theatre practitioners. Moving forward, the pair hope to continue producing work from a variety of sources for stage and film, with a particular interest in exploring the role of women in comedy.

Australian-born, Jen Coles earned a Bachelor in Applied Music (Music Theatre) from Box Hill TAFE in 2011. Her career beginnings as the lovably awkward "N3rd.Girl" in the self-penned cabarets N3rd.Girl Vs. The Zombie Apocalypse and N3rd.Girl Vs. The Zombie Apocalypse: Halloween Edition! were met with commercial and critical success. She then starred in a sequence of short films (currently in post-production), all of which she either wrote, directed, or produced.
In 2014, Jen left Melbourne to further her training at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She wrote her dissertation on video game voice acting (the first to examine it in a pedagogical context) and was awarded with a first class Honours and Distinction for her degree. Jen continues her short film and theatre work as the Co-Artistic Director of Streetlights, People! Productions with her partner in crime, Nora Perone. When not at work, Jen can usually be found playing Cards Against Humanity, watching comedians and magicians on YouTube, or making excellent puns. |

Nora Perone hails from Morgantown, West Virginia (yes, like the song "Country Roads"). She spent her early years volunteering with community theatre groups before being awarded a full scholarship and graduating summa cum laude from the conservatory acting program at West Virginia University.
While completing her Master of Arts in Music Theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Nora discovered her love for comedy writing, eventually co-founding Streetlights, People! Productions with Jen Coles. She also produces for Revisionist Theatre, which is currently developing a number of projects, ranging from new musicals to a feminist podcast to a D&D live stream. Passionate about teaching as well as performing, Nora has taught with the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Kingston University Collegiate Music, West Virginia University School of Theatre and Dance, Fairmont State University Academy for the Arts, Perform! School of Performing Arts, Nomadic Youth London, and NCS - The Challenge. Nora spends her time away from the theatre watching videos of dogs (or occasionally petting real dogs), listening to the Harry Potter audio books on repeat, eating copious amounts of Thai food, and laughing at her own jokes. |
